# Northern Ireland probate and estate route

NICTS supplies the Northern Ireland grant-of-representation application.
nidirect separately identifies letters of administration where there is no
will and explains the estate-debt boundary. These are not the England and
Wales probate service or Scottish confirmation.

[NICTS](../organisations/northern-ireland-courts-and-tribunals-service.md) and
[HMRC](../organisations/hm-revenue-and-customs.md) retain their own authority.
The bundle does not decide the applicant, need for a grant, debt priority,
solvency, tax or distribution.
